Roger Schmidt is pleased that Mohamed Ihattaren is getting closer to his old form. The PSVtrainer understands that many questions were asked about the young midfielder, who was kept out of the match selection for a while.
Schmidt was often asked about his pupil in the lesser period of Ihattaren. However, he had no problems with that. “No, I understand why he is so interesting”, Schmidt tells Broadcasting Brabant. “It’s always the same: if young players have excellent qualities in their younger years like Mo has. And as a young player they have already played in a team like PSV, then they focus on them. That’s normal of course.”
The PSV coach believes that critical questions about a player are part of the game when he performs less than normal. “If these players have a bit of a hard time, then everyone finds it interesting. So it’s normal to talk more about these types of players. That’s part of football.”
Ihattaren now seems to be growing back to its old form, much to Schmidt’s satisfaction. “If I’m honest I like to talk about Mo, but in a positive way. And now we can of course talk a lot about Mo, because he plays well. He is physically better and in good condition. And now after a long time, he shows his qualities again. I am very happy with his development. “
