The striker of Leverkusen won thanks to a quick shot from the opening match of the Czech national team at the championship, when at the beginning of the second half he fired from a distance of 49.7 meters and scored the goal from the greatest distance in the history of European championships.
His exact attempt fell into the goal of the goalkeeper David Marshall, who did not manage to return after the previous run. Schick scored for the second time in the match and set the final score at 2: 0.
“There was a bounced balloon, I was already looking at where the goalkeeper was standing during the match, he was very high. I looked peripherally, I saw that he was outside and I popped it there,” Schick said on Czech television.
