Christian van de Flierdt scores when saying goodbye

When a deserving player says goodbye, there is no guarantee that it will end with a sense of achievement. It worked for Christian van de Flierdt. And he made a significant contribution to that.

VfL Willich won the district derby of the football district league at SSV Grefrath 4:2 (3:2). The Glasmacher team – the coach gave three players a chance who will join the squad from the A-Juniors in the coming season and with Tim Hebich, who did his job properly, the second goalkeeper stood between the posts – started one behind measure. Benny Wirth reached out three times. First with a penalty kick (6th), then with a shot (12th) and then again with a penalty kick (19th). In this action, also forfeited to the VfL goalscorer, Grefrath’s Christopher Claeren saw the red card. It was the SSV captain’s second dismissal this season. To everyone’s surprise, however, the home side were in full swing afterwards and came on through Gerrit Lenssen (35′) and Niklas Schmitz (44′). The second half was then an open exchange of blows with advantages for the SSV. But good opportunities remained unused. With the final whistle, Marco Hellwig closed the sack for the guests.

The SC Schiefbahn, who had lost their staff and only had two players left on the bench, lost 0:3 (0:2) to Fortuna Dilkrath because of the lack of alternatives. Before the game, after his substitution (74th) and after the final whistle, the hosts said goodbye to their long-time player Christian van de Flierdt. In terms of his job, he has a relationship with Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach, because as one of 14 greenkeepers he ensures that the lawn in Borussiapark is ideal. It then fitted perfectly into the script that the Dilkrathers were awarded a penalty kick after just five minutes, which the 40-year-old converted. Jannis Ungerer headed in to make it 2-0 (34′), then Marvin Holthausen scored (72′).

Relegation aspirant SC Hardt draws new hope after a 3: 2 (1: 2) success at SV Vorst. Rishan Jeyakody (14th) and Yannick Lange (51st/59th) scored the goals. Murat Arslan (21st) and Josiah Enoch Baker (37th) scored for the Dahms-Elf, where Tobias Schulze saw red (90th).
