Mercenary pilot from PMC Wagner

The Russian Su-25 attack aircraft was shot down by the Ukrainian military from the Igla MANPADS near Svetlodarsk. The pilot was a mercenary from PMC Wagner.

The SBU published a video of the interrogation of the pilot of the downed Russian plane, who turned out to be mercenary from PMC Wagner.

In the video, the man claims that he managed to fight for only three days. He made his first sortie on June 14, and on the 17th he was taken prisoner.

“Now he is telling the SBU about how he dropped bombs on Ukraine. At the same time, he is trying to justify himself and says that it was only about “strike on enemy strongholds, concentrations of forces and manpower.” However, when he saw on the video the results of Russian strikes on peaceful settlements, the occupier’s self-confidence disappeared somewhere and he “suddenly” realized that this was “not a true, unnecessary war,” the report says.

It is noted that the captured pilot made 1-2 sorties a day.

“It is recognized that, besides him, other mercenaries fly Russian fighters worth more than $10 million, and not professional pilots from Russia. Mercenaries receive a salary of 200,000 rubles a month and additional bonuses for their work,” the SBU reported.

The service also says that the pilot considered the main purpose of his own stay in Ukraine to be “the task of … providing assistance to the republics of Donbass”, and combat sorties – “private tasks.”

Recall that the Russian attack aircraft Su-25 was shot down on June 18 from Igla MANPADS soldiers of the 72nd mechanized brigade near Svetlodarsk.
