SBA Disaster Assistance Available for Reno County, kansas
Following a recent disaster declaration, the U.S. Small Business Management (SBA) is offering disaster assistance to businesses, homeowners, adn renters in Reno County, Kansas. The SBA’s programs aim to help the community recover and rebuild.
Businesses and nonprofit organizations are eligible for Physical Disaster Loans, with a maximum borrowing capacity of $2 million. These loans can be used to repair or replace damaged or destroyed property, including real estate, machinery, equipment, and inventory. Homeowners can access loans of up to $500,000 to repair or replace their primary residence, while renters and homeowners alike can borrow up to $100,000 to cover personal property losses like clothing, furniture, cars, and appliances.
A unique benefit of the SBA disaster loan program is the prospect to incorporate mitigation measures. Applicants may be eligible for a loan increase of up to 20% of their physical damage loan to fund improvements that reduce future risk, such as strengthening structures against high winds, installing wind-rated garage doors, or building safe rooms/storm shelters. chris Stallings, associate administrator of the Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience at the SBA, encourages applicants to utilize these funds for proactive storm readiness.
The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program is also available to eligible small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, nurseries, and private nonprofit organizations (including faith-based organizations) experiencing financial hardship due to the disaster. Note that agricultural producers, farmers, and ranchers are not eligible for these loans, with the exception of aquaculture enterprises. EIDL loan amounts can reach up to $2 million, with interest rates as low as 2.813% for homeowners and renters, 3.625% for PNPs, and 4% for businesses, and repayment terms extending up to 30 years. Loan terms and eligibility are determined by each applicant’s financial situation, and interest accrual and payments are deferred for 12 months after initial disbursement.
