Top favorite FSV Zwickau from the 3rd division has to deal with state league club SV Unit Kamenz, regional league north-east representative BSG Chemie Leipzig meets Dresdener SC 1898.
Should Chemnitzer FC prevail as expected in the catch-up game of the 3rd round, SV Panitzsch/Borsdorf will be the absolute underdog and previous cup fright from the eight-class district upper league.
Two regional league teams involuntarily dropped out of the competition in the third round. In addition to the defending champions 1. FC Lokomotive Leipzig (0:2 at FSV Budissa Bautzen), FC Eilenburg (2:3 on penalties at SSV Markranstädt) was also knocked out.
