Save Eriksen’s Life, Simon Kjaer Received Award from UEFA

Jakarta

UEFA give credit to Simon kjaer for saving lives Christian Eriksen in the title Euro 2020. In addition to the AC Milan defender, eight other people also received similar awards.

It is still clear in public memory when Eriksen collapsed due to heart failure in the middle of the Euro 2020 match between Denmark vs Finland last June in Copenhagen. The 29-year-old midfielder was finally saved thanks to the swift handling of the medical team and also the players on the field.

Kjaer, as captain Denmark National Team, received the most attention because of his heroic actions. He performed first aid as soon as Eriksen fell. After adjusting Eriksen’s position, he then performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation for his colleague, to be followed by a team of doctors who entered the field.

Kjaer also the one who led his comrades in a circle around Eriksen so as not to be highlighted by the camera and not seen directly by the audience, so as not to cause a trauma effect. It also makes it easier for the medical team to focus on work.

Kjaer also calmed down the Eriksen family who were present at the time. All the actions of Kjaer and his medical colleagues at that time were finally rewarded with the UEFA President’s Award on Tuesday (24/8/2021).

“While Christian Eriksen collapsing on the pitch, I and millions of football fans are shocked and concerned. Everyone is happy and relieved when Christian’s life has finally been saved thanks to the extraordinary professional work of the medical team,” said the UEFA President’s statement Alexander Ceferin.

“I have great admiration for the doctors and medical staff for their incredible reaction and calm. It was very important in saving Christian’s life.”

“I am also grateful for the extraordinary leadership qualities and courage shown Simon kjaer as captain of Denmark in such a precarious situation,” Ceferin continued.
