Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, said on Tuesday that he confirmed during the meeting with the Houthi delegation that visited Riyadh that Saudi Arabia is “keen to reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution in Yemen.”
Prince Khalid bin Salman stated, through his account on the “X” platform: “I met the Sana’a delegation, which visited Riyadh to complete the efforts aimed at supporting the peace process in Yemen. During my meeting with the delegation, I confirmed the Kingdom’s standing with Yemen and its brotherly people, and its keenness to encourage the Yemeni parties to sit at the dialogue table.” To reach a comprehensive and lasting political solution in Yemen under the supervision of the United Nations.”
On the other hand, the Houthi spokesman, Muhammad Abdul Salam, said through his account on “X”: “Within the framework of the commendable efforts made by the brothers in the Sultanate of Oman to support peace and end the humanitarian crisis, our delegation, upon its arrival in Riyadh, held extensive meetings with the Saudi side in which we discussed some options and alternatives.” To overcome the issues of disagreement that occurred in the previous round, we will submit them to the leadership for consultation in a way that will help speed up the disbursement of salaries and address the humanitarian situation that our Yemeni people are suffering from, in a way that leads to a just, comprehensive and sustainable solution.”
It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia announced an invitation to the Houthis to hold discussions about a comprehensive political solution in Yemen, according to what was published by the Saudi News Agency (SPA).
On the other hand, the leader of the “Houthi” group, Muhammad Ali Al-Houthi, said via X: “Our hope is that a serious discussion will take place in the interest of the two peoples and to overcome the challenges.”
