Sassari Prepares to Sparkle: A Packed Christmas⁢ & New Year Program Unveiled

Sassari​ is‍ gearing up for a vibrant holiday season with​ the launch of its‌ “Christmas Destination” program, officially presented at the Palazzo Ducale by Mayor Giuseppe Mascia⁣ and key city officials. Running from December 1st to January 6th, the⁣ program aims to draw visitors to the city through a diverse array of cultural and artistic events, building on ​Sassari’s year-round commitment to lively programming.

This year’s schedule boasts an impressive 145 initiatives, averaging six events daily, with activity increasing considerably as Christmas approaches. While acknowledging last year’s success, Mayor Mascia emphasized the need for continued enhancement, stating the current plans represent a foundational effort for a city of Sassari’s potential.

The program’s artistic core features 40 musical performances,headlined by a New Year’s Eve concert with Max Pezzali at Piazzale segni.‍ This concert will be complemented by a range of musical styles including opera, jazz, pop, and gospel. Alongside the music, attendees can look forward to 30 ‍theatrical productions, 20 dance performances, and nine art exhibitions.

Events will be spread across 30 different locations throughout Sassari, encompassing both ⁣the historic center⁤ – including Piazza Fiume, Piazza Italia, the Castle, Astra Cinema, Tavolara Pavilion, and the Library‌ – and outlying areas like Latte Dolce, Li ⁣Punti, and Monte Rosello. ⁢ The program will also include‍ customary festive ‍attractions like markets, rides, and a Santa Claus Village.

A collaborative effort involving seventy organizers‌ is bringing the program to life, supported by substantial regional funding. A dedicated one million euros has been ‍allocated to the New Year’s Eve celebrations alone, ⁢reflecting the anticipated influx of tourists. According to Head of Economic Affairs Lello Panu, ⁣local accommodations are already fully booked ⁣in anticipation of the concert.

“We have made a⁤ significant investment,”​ stated Head of Culture Nicoletta Puggioni,​ “and we hope that the city and⁤ the surrounding area will respond enthusiastically.” Sassari is poised to become a shining destination this holiday season, offering a rich and varied experience for residents and visitors alike.
