Sareb forces the eviction of 12 families from flats in Silleda

New turn of the screw in the controversy of the floors of the Emilio Alonso Paz street that Promoval built and that are in the hands of the Society of Assets from Bank Restructuring (Sareb). If last December gas meters were removed from some inhabited homes, now there are a dozen families who must leave their homes before November 4.

The Block explains that Sareb asked in August before the courts that the sentence of eviction of these houses be carried out, despite the fact that it took months of negotiation with the tenants to reach an agreement. There are other families who have already left, despite having lost all the money they had invested in rent or in a rent with the right to purchase. The BNG affects not only the economic prejudice for these families, but also the difficulties to find another home or to school their children in a different municipality, if they have to leave Silleda, already with the course started.

Faced with this situation, the party headed by Tania Cornado at the local level will take the controversy to Parliament, and incidentally asks the City Council to mediate, since Silleda has an agreement with Sareb through which it has five agreed homes for social rent.

Up for auction in 2019

The controversy of blocks 2 to 8 in Alonso Paz dates back to September 2019, when 31 floors and 29 parking spaces were auctioned. The bid surprised a good part of its residents, who paid either a rent or with a rent with the right to purchase, but with a verbal agreement, according to the Block. But the developer did not pay the mortgage, and hence the embargo. Some of the tenants even received a letter from the Ministry of Finance advising them not to continue paying the monthly rent to the developer.

During these years, there were also families that even bought appliances or carried out small reforms, with a view to making the house theirs in the future. The bank gave the apartments to Sareb, which agreed to negotiate with the tenants to find a solution by renting or buying the properties. But, as we said, a couple of months ago he asked the courts to execute the sentence to leave the floors empty. Your tenants will not be able to recover the investment made and, in some cases, they do not have another alternative home in which to reinstall their furniture.

The BNG criticizes that while evicting neighbors, Sareb makes available to the councils social rental housing, as it happens precisely in Silleda. And he adds that if Sareb’s debt is public, so should its homes.
