A Legacy of Champions

Brazil has dominated recent editions of the Libertadores, securing the last six titles. Flamengo emerged victorious in 2019 and 2022, Palmeiras triumphed in 2020 and 2021, Fluminense lifted the trophy in 2023, and Botafogo claimed the title last year. This remarkable streak has brought Brazil’s total to 24 titles, inching closer to Argentina’s leading 25.

Argentina’s last victory in the tournament was in 2018, when River Plate secured the coveted cup. Since then, Brazil has been on an unprecedented run, adding six more achievements to its tally.

Veteran Presence on the Field

Several seasoned players continue to make their mark in the competition. Striker Oscar Cardozo, formerly of Benfica, is still a force at 41, battling for a spot with Santa Cruz. Goalkeeper Martín Silva, remembered for his triumphant stint with Vasco in the late 2010s, is now 42. Adding to the experienced roster is Uruguayan defender Martín Cáceres, 38, who previously played for Barcelona and Juventus.
