This is Argentina’s 15th title in the competition and ends a title drought since 1993 at a major tournament. After that Argentina failed as much as three times in the Copa America final and one in the 2014 World Cup.
Messi is of course the most relieved figure with Argentina’s success considering he has been waiting for so long. So far, Messi has often been criticized for only being good with Barcelona, but not being able to give big trophies for his country.

There was a moment when Messi was caught on camera sitting alone holding his cell phone. He turned out to be in contact with his wife Antonella Rocuzzo and their three sons who were unable to attend in person at the stadium.
Messi looked very happy when he contacted his wife and children. He showed them the championship medal.
“We are champions. Vamos Argentina! Vamos My love! Finally God gave you what you’ve been dreaming of,” Antonella said while congratulating Messi, quoted Tyc Sports.
“You really deserve that. I can’t wait to see you and celebrate winning the Copa America together,” he continued.
Lionel Messi has collected 151 caps and 76 goals since his debut in 2005 for the Argentine national team.
