Santiago “El Viejo” reopens its doors | Radio Zamora

In the morning of the Romanesque church of Santiago de los Caballeros or Santiago el Viejo, in the Olivares de Zamora neighborhood, has reopened its doors to the public. The temple can be visited again, once the conservation and restoration work on its cover is completed, as well as the adaptation of the surrounding environment.

A work that has cost a little more than 70,000 euros, financed entirely by the Junta de Castilla y León and under the direction of the architect Leocadio Peláez, who considers that this Romanesque temple, framed in what is known as the Campo de la Verdad, needs Some more intervention, although this jewel in which it is said that El Cid Campeador was armed knight, wore the spurs of Queen Doña Urraca.

In the works of adaptation of the environment of the church of Santiago de los Caballeros, work has also been done on the lighting of the monument.
