SANTA TERESA. Turri saffron, Cabras bottarga, Ovodda carasau bread. These are some of the excellences of the island producers offered exclusively in the structures of the Delphina hotel & resort. The hotel chain, a symbol of 4 and 5 star tourism in northern Sardinia, focuses on local suppliers: more than 70% operate under the Delphina “Genuin local food oriented” quality brand. A project in support of genuine cuisine, the goal of the great hospitality enterprise is to reach 80% of Sardinian producers by the end of 2021. “Our role – says Elena Muntoni, brand manager of Delphina hotel & resort – is to offer guests the real products of our land. And supporting economic realities and small excellences, helping them to grow and open up to international markets. It is a further way of demonstrating social responsibility and support for the territory in a concrete way ».
With a turnover of over 72 million in 2019, Delphina confirms the positive growth trend of recent years. It employs over a thousand people, of which more than a hundred in offices and an induced for internal services of over 300 people. «We have a team – explains Muntoni – that finds small producers and establishes growth synergies. Being handcrafted products we are not yet able to satisfy all requests, but the hope is to help our suppliers to grow and to structure themselves to better respond to international demand, while maintaining the quality of the products ». With this in mind, Selezione Delphina was born, a line of Sardinian food and wine excellences, products that guests can find in hotel restaurants and buy on departure or online. The range of proposals includes Turri saffron, Cabras bottarga, Ovodda carasau bread. Certified organic herbal teas with the Demeter brand of hand-picked Sardinian herbs. The quince jams, wild blackberries, pompia. Wild lavender honey and wild thistle honey. Cheeses are inevitable, from pecorino to goats. Valledoria Dop artichokes, wild asparagus and beans preserved in oil. And Bosane olives in brine. Among other things, in the list there is a selection of wines bottled exclusively for Delphina. Artifacts made by Sardinian companies are also chosen for the furniture and decor. A philosophy implemented since the beginning of the activity, with the construction of the first hotels in the eighties-nineties of the last century, when in the mind of the president Francesco Muntoni and the partner Salvatore Peru (builders of Aggius), the structures take on the appearance of buildings of one or two levels surrounded by greenery, with local materials: wood, wrought iron and cork. “Furniture – underlines Elena Muntoni -, carpentry, stones, wrought iron and even chandeliers and ceiling lights made of artistic ceramics, are of strictly Sardinian origin and design”.
