Santa Fe: an 11-year-old boy, his mother and his grandfather drowned after falling into a lagoon inside their truck

A family outing ended in tragedy in Santa Fe, where an 11-year-old boy, his grandfather and his mother drowned after falling into the Setúbal lagoon aboard the truck in which they were traveling. The incident occurred this Sunday in the coastal neighborhood of Colastiné Norte, where police tactical divers managed to recover the bodies. Meanwhile, it was reported that two teenagers survived who had also arrived at the scene in the vehicle.

According to sources in the case, the victims were identified as Emilio Albornoz, 77; Cristina Albornoz, 44; and Miguel Albornoz, 11.

Regarding the circumstances of the event, they indicated that the truck in which they were traveling fell into the Setúbal lagoon around 10 o’clock, in the so-called Playa Paraíso, at the height of kilometer 2.5 of Provincial Route 1. When observing the sinking of the vehicle, neighbors alerted the Police, who moved with members of the Grouping of Tactical Divers.

The sources indicated that the Albornoz were dedicated to the brick industry, so it was common for them to approach the lagoon in search of water to make their products. However, the causes of the fall of the truck are still under investigation.

Apparently, to extract the liquid, the family would have parked in the vicinity of the lagoon with the handbrake on and wooden blocks placed on the rear wheels. But even so, the sand gave way and the roll quickly sank.

For his part, he reported that two teenagers survived who had also driven to the scene. They are Gabriel and Julia Albornoz, who are brothers of the boy who drowned. According to the aforementioned media, they told the residents of the area that they were with their grandfather and their mother in the truck, which had been disposed of “butt” at the water’s edge.
