Santa Cruz maintains the acts of the Carnival this Saturday | Radio Club Tenerife

The City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, after holding an emergency meeting that has been held since this morning at the headquarters of the Operational Coordination Center of the Municipal Administration (Cecopal) has decided to maintain the events planned within the Carnival schedule for today, including the Rhythm and Harmony contest.

This political and technical commission, chaired by the mayor of the municipality, Patricia Hernández, together with the councilors for Citizen Security, Road and Mobility, Florentino Guzmán; the mayor of Community Welfare and Public Services, José Ángel Martín, and the councilor for Fiestas, Andrés Casanova and technical staff from all the areas involved have adopted the decision to keep the schedule of the Carnival events until the present night. In any case, any modification to the rest of the events planned for the Carnival of this day, and even those of tomorrow, will be subject to a new analysis this afternoon-evening as soon as new data becomes available.

To make this decision, the capital city council has evaluated the different reports on the weather forecasts limited to the municipal territory and the latest statement of Wind Alert that has been issued by the General Directorate of Security and Emergencies (DGSE) of the Canary Islands Government. In view of all the data collected and the evolution of the meteorological situation, this evaluation commission will continue to analyze, minute by minute, the sensitive structures and the possible appearance of adverse meteorological phenomena in the capital of Tenerife.

Both the political authorities and the technical representatives leave open the possibility of adopting other types of measures if the meteorological conditions that may affect the municipality of Santa Cruz change. All the security and emergency device remains activated within the operation planned for Carnival, although all representatives and companies have already been contacted to communicate, if necessary, any changes in the current situation.

If there is a need to modify this decision, it will be previously analyzed and communicated to the population through the usual channels, although at the moment it is ruled out to adopt other types of measures.
