LONDON, July 4 (Reuters) – Sanofi announced on Monday the launch of a new brand, Impact, bringing together 30 treatments, including insulin, which will be available at cost price in 40 low-income countries, a first concrete step in the implementation of the project presented last year by the pharmaceutical group to improve access to care in these countries.

This project also includes the creation of the Impact Fund, endowed with 25 million dollars, which aims to financially support start-ups in the field of health and to provide training on the use of drugs, specified the French group. .

The drugs covered by the new brand are all on the list of products considered essential by the World Health Organization (WHO) and are used, among other things, in the treatment of diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, malaria and cancer. .

Sanofi did not specify to what extent its initiative would lower their prices in the countries concerned.

These countries are mainly located in Africa, from Niger to Zimbabwe, but also include Syria and Asian countries including Cambodia and Burma.
