Sanctions against Russia – exports of semiconductors to the Russian Federation decreased by 90%

The defense industry, as well as high-precision engineering in Russia, was left without semiconductors needed for a wide range of products after Washington imposed a ban on their export. According to the US Department of Commerce, global semiconductor exports to Russia have dropped by almost 90%.

“Since the imposition of sanctions, global semiconductor exports to Russia have fallen by almost 90%, leaving Russian companies without precision products needed to manufacture a number of weapons, including precision-guided missiles and tanks,” US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo said.

The ministry estimates that by 2025, Russian airlines will be forced to stop operating up to two-thirds of their commercial aircraft in order to use them as spare parts donors.
