Trinseo (Berwyn, Pennsylvania / USA) declared force majeure on February 3, 2021 for SAN production at the Terneuzen site in the Netherlands. The inadequate supply of the intermediate product ACN is affecting production, said a company representative. The plant could therefore not produce in full.
Trinseo’s only European SAN system is located in Terneuzen. The company operates a second SAN production facility in Midland, Michigan / USA. The availability of ACN has been very limited since the failure of the Ineos plant in Worringen, and the bottlenecks also affected Versalis’ ABS production.
