Samsung will launch a folding screen phone under Rp. 11 million

A press release from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission states, a number of Samsung smartphones come with an IP68 certificate. The list includes the Galaxy S7, S7 Edge, S8, S8 Plus, Galaxy Note 8, Galaxy A5 and A7 from 2017.

According to the court, the above devices are illustrated for use in swimming pools and seawater environments.

ACCC said, Samsung managed to sell 3.1 million units of the devices mentioned above.

The misleading advertisement was claimed to have been broadcast from March 2016 to October 2018. The regulator stated that the advertisement had succeeded in influencing consumers.

With advertising in mind, some users may purchase one of the above products and may immediately take selfies underwater. Given the misleading advertisements, apparently there have been a lot of complaints coming in.

There are also users who take this device for a swim and when they return, the product is damaged.

Even so, it is true that some devices can hold pool water from entering the phone case, these devices are clearly not designed to be in sea water.

The reason is, salt can damage the charging port to the circuit board and damage the smartphone from the inside.

Despite the adverts, water damage is not a part of Samsung Australia’s warranty. So, indirectly the user seems to be left with a device that cannot be used.

The value of the fine imposed on Samsung may not be much for the company, but after this incident, the company will certainly be more careful with its advertisements.
