Samsung starts selling the Portable SSD T7 in the Netherlands. For 150 euros, consumers get the 500GB version. Samsung also releases a 1TB and 2TB version, which cost 230 and 440 euros respectively.
Samsung announced earlier this year the T7 Touch with built-in fingerprint scanner and said that it was working on a regular T7-ssd at the time. That variant is on sale now. Apart from the fingerprint scanner, the two SSDs are no different. That means the T7 SSDs can read sequentially with up to 1050MB / s and write up to 1000MB / s, provided the host has USB 3.2 gen 2 and uasp supports. The disks are 85x57x8mm in size and weigh 58 grams.
Although the regular T7 does not have a fingerprint scanner, it can be secured with a user-set code. The SSD encrypts the files with 256bits AES encryption. The T7 has a USB-C connection. The SSD receives both a USB-C to USB-C cable and a cable with a USB-A connection. Used according to Hardware.info the T7 series tlc-nand with a cache of slc memory.
The recommended prices of the T7 versions without a fingerprint scanner are two tens of euros lower than those of the versions with a fingerprint scanner, although Samsung now offers these for lower prices than at introduction offers. The approaching arrival of the T7 SSDs was already clear an appearance on the Canadian Samsung website.
