Samsung releases rotatable TV The Sero in the Netherlands – Image and sound – News

Samsung has started selling its rotatable TV The Sero in the Netherlands. Because the screen can rotate, viewers can watch horizontal and vertical videos on the screen. Samsung announced the TV at the beginning of this year.

It is a 43 “LCD, reported Samsung. Customers will receive the wheels free of charge with an order for the first month, but from the end of September they will cost 99 euros extra, on top of the suggested retail price of 1,699 euros. Thanks to the wheels, the TV can be moved in the living room.

Samsung presented The Sero at the beginning of this year at the electronics fair CES. The purpose of the TV is to view vertically filmed videos in a larger format than is possible with a regular TV. Therefore, the screen can rotate a quarter turn when users want to play such videos.

To connect Galaxy smartphones to the TV, users can tap their device against it. Android smartphones must have the SmartThings app from Samsung for the combination with the TV. The resolution of the device is 3840×2160 pixels. As far as HDR display is concerned, HDR 10+ and HLG are supported, although it is not clear from the specifications what the maximum brightness is.

The television has three HDMI interfaces and two USB ports. An ethernet port is not available, but the TV supports wireless connections via 802.11ac or WiFi 5, and bluetooth 4.2. Furthermore, the Sero has 4.1 speakers of 60 watts and Samsung’s own speech assistant Bixby. When not in use, the device can function as a photo album or music player.
