The Samsung Galaxy SmartTags tracking device was unveiled along with Galaxy S21phones during Samsung’s January event Unpacked. They are Tile-like tracking devices that can help you recover assets you have cluttered away.
You can attach such a device to a cell phone or to a keychain, put it in your wallet or in a jacket pocket, or on a teddy bear the kids have a tired tendency to lose or put down. Then use the Samsung SmartThings Find app to find them again using your mobile phone.
You can also get SmartTags Plus, which has several features. Below you can see what distinguishes these models from each other.
To the point
- What is this? A Tile-like tracking device from Samsung
- When will it be available? January 29, but the PLus model will come later this year.
- What will it cost? Each unit will cost 350 kroner.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTags will go on sale on January 29, along with the Galaxy S21 phones. SmartTags Plus will come a little later, and here the date has not yet been confirmed by Samsung.
In several regions, you will get at least one SmartTag when pre-ordering a Galaxy S21 mobile. Samsung has so far not provided detailed information on this.
Samsung SmartTag costs 350 kroner per chip. They are thus somewhat more expensive than the Tile chips, and much more expensive than the simpler units you can buy online. There will also be package deals on SmartTag devices.
At the moment you can pre-order SmartTag in the colors Oatmeal and Black. There will be more color variants later, such as Teal and Pink, as well as packages with more units. Samsung has also shown some branded versions, including a Bart Simpson edition.
Samsung has confirmed that there will be two- and four-packs, but it is unclear if and when the latter will be available in Norway. The top packs can already be ordered.
