The Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra has it all, but it is not a smartphone for everyone

He admits that when Samsung presented the Galaxy S20 FE (short for Fan Edition), I was quite skeptical about it. Oh, another edition of the smartphone for fans of the brand. Now, however, I believe that it is not all that obvious. This is a new, slightly trimmed, but cheaper flagship that can reach a wide audience.

Appearance and build quality
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE quite strongly refers to its prototype, i.e. the Galaxy S20 released in February. So we are dealing with an oval casing again with strongly rounded edges and folded edges on the patches.
However, we can distinguish very important differences. First of all, the display of the new Galaxy S20 FE has not been bent on the sides, which will probably find its supporters and opponents. Secondly, the housing of the FE edition is made of … plastic. So you can see that after the release of the plastic Galaxy Note 20 for PLN 4,350 (or 4,850), Samsung continues the trend of giving up glass in premium smartphones.

I must admit, however, that the Galaxy S20 FE was made very carefully, and the mentioned plastic seems very solid. In addition, Samsung decided to compensate us for the lack of glass on the back by releasing the phone in as many as six color versions.
Specification
Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is the new flagship of Koreans, which is why the phone has a top specification. The smartphone display has a diagonal of 6.5 inches, was made in Super AMOLED technology and supports 120 Hz refreshing. However, unlike the Galaxy S20 in the FE edition, the screen resolution is 1080×2400 pix (instead of 1440×3200 pix). The displayed image looks great, however, and most people probably won’t even notice the difference.

Prac± However, the device is controlled by the same top processor that was found in the Galaxy S20 or Note 20 – the Exynos 990. Interestingly, however, the Polish market will also have a version with Snapdragon 865, which is considered a much more successful system. In this case, Galaxy FE will additionally offer 5G support.
Each of these two versions will be available with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of data space or 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of file space. In total, we will get four different processor / memory versions to choose from. The whole will be powered by a battery with a large capacity of 4500 mAh. It is also worth mentioning the lack of a headphone jack.

Cameras
There are traditionally three cameras on the backs, and their specification is as follows:
- main camera 12 Mpix, 1.8 µm (f / 1.8) with optical image stabilization,
- 12 Mpix wide-angle camera, 1.12 µm (f / 2.2) with a field of view of 123 degrees,
- tele camera (3x lossless, 30x digital) 8 Mpix, 1 µm (f / 2.4) with optical image stabilization.
The front selfie camera has a resolution of 32 Mpix (f / 2.2) and is equipped with an autofocus.
Pictures from the phone (with any camera) look very good, even in poor lighting conditions. However, I will be able to say more only after longer tests.

Summary
In summary, Samsung has created a phone that is only slightly worse than the basic Galaxy S20, but has a larger screen (6.2 inches in the Galaxy S20) and should reach a wider audience due to a lower prices. Exactly. How much will the Galaxy S20 FE cost in Poland?
- Galaxy S20 FE 4G (Exynos) 6/128 GB – PLN 2899 (version 8/256 price unknown yet)
- Galaxy S20 FE 5G (Snapdragon) 6/128 GB – PLN 3399 (price of version 8/256 unknown yet)
So it is still not cheap, but both smartphones (and especially the version with Exynos cut from 5G) can become a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy S20, the prices of which start from about PLN 3800. Thus, the Galaxy S20 FE is the cheapest flagship in the Korean company’s offer.
