Samsung Galaxy A73 is rumored to use a 108 MP camera

Jakarta

Samsung So far, it has only provided a 108 MP camera for flagship phones in the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. But, if you look at the latest rumors, it seems that Samsung will present this feature in the Galaxy A series which is targeting the middle class market.

Reports from South Korean media The Elec say that Samsung plans to equip the Galaxy a73 with a 108 MP camera. The prospective successor to the Galaxy A72 is also expected to have an optical image stabilization (OIS) feature in the main camera, as quoted from GSM Arena, Sunday (19/9/2021).

If these rumors are accurate, then the Galaxy A73 will be the first Samsung middle-class phone to have a 108 MP camera. Previously, cameras of this class have been used in the Galaxy S20 Ultra, Galaxy Note 20 Ultra and Galaxy S21 Ultra.

This leak also indicates a significant camera upgrade when compared to the previous generation, the Galaxy A72. As is known, the Galaxy A72 has four rear cameras with a 64 MP main camera.

The Elec report doesn’t say what sensor it will use Galaxy a73. Samsung itself has launched several 108 MP sensors, including the ISOCELL HM2 1/1.52″ used by the Redmi Note 10 Pro.

Because both are middle-class phones, it is not impossible that the Galaxy A73 will use the same sensor. The ISOCELL HM 1/1.52″ itself is the smallest 108 MP sensor Samsung has ever released, with a size of 0.7µm pixels.

By providing a 108 MP camera in the Galaxy A line, Samsung will also be able to compete more tightly with vendors from China, including Xiaomi, which dominates the middle-class mobile market with the Redmi Note series.

Of course this is all still a rumor that has not been confirmed by Samsung. Galaxy a73 itself will probably only be launched in the next few months, so there will still be a lot of leaked information revealed.
