Samsung Dominates Android Tablet Market in Q2 2025

Tablet Market Share Shifts: Apple Leads as Samsung Experiences growth in Q1 2025 – New data from the International Data Corporation (IDC) reveals a dynamic tablet market in the first quarter of 2025, with Apple maintaining its dominant position and Samsung showing positive year-over-year growth.

Apple shipped 12.7 million iPad units in Q1 2025, capturing a 33% market share. This figure underscores Apple’s continued strength in the tablet sector, despite overall market fluctuations. The data, released on June 12, 2025, provides a snapshot of the competitive landscape.

Samsung recorded a 4.2% year-over-year increase, shipping 6.9 million Galaxy Tab units and securing a 20.3% market share. This represents a 0.3 million unit increase in shipments compared to the previous quarter. While Samsung experienced growth, its market share decreased slightly in Q2 2025 due to a broader 13.1% year-over-year market expansion, with gains distributed across multiple brands.

IDC analysts noted Samsung’s strategic focus on expanding its presence in key regions. “Samsung continued to secure its second position in the top five and grew by 4.2% year-over-year with a shipment of 7.2 million units. Along with projects in Latin America that added to the volume, Samsung has been aggressively pushing shipments in the Middle East and in Europe, in order to compete with othre top vendors.” Specific projects in Latin America, especially in Brazil and Mexico, contributed to this volume increase, according to IDC’s regional reports.

Looking ahead, Samsung is preparing to launch its Galaxy Tab S11 series in July 2025. the lineup will include the Galaxy Tab S11 and the galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. Anticipated upgrades include a new Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate, a qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB of RAM, and a battery capacity increase to 11,200 mAh for the Ultra model – a significant upgrade from the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra’s 11,200 mAh battery. the S11 is expected to feature a 10.5-inch display, while the S11 Ultra will boast a 14.6-inch screen. These enhancements aim to position Samsung’s flagship tablets as premium alternatives to the iPad Pro.
