Leaks reveal that this year the manufacturers will equip their top smartphones with even more and more powerful cameras than before. Samsung is leading the way with the Galaxy S20 Ultra, which could set a zoom record.
The smartphone manufacturers no longer think much about how their top devices could differ from those of the competition. Sheer performance has long ceased to be a selling point. A strong inner life is required and even middle-class smartphones often already have more muscles than they actually need. Standard 120 Hz displays
It looks similar with the displays, but there is a little more. The edges may be a little thinner, front cameras and sensors hidden even more cleverly, and the refresh rate climbs to 120 Hertz (Hz). Different screens in the upper class are hardly likely to be decisive for the purchase.
Above all, the camera equipment remains. And this year it says again: the more the better. This applies to the number of lenses as well as the resolution or the zoom factor. It starts with the Galaxy S20, which Samsung will unveil on February 11th. Numerous leaks already reveal the likely features of the South Korean super smartphone.
According to a data sheet, that Ishan Agarwal on Twitter, there will be three 5G variants with 6.2, 6.7 and 6.9-inch 120 Hz displays: the S20, a Plus variant and an Ultra model. They are powered by Samsung’s Exynos 990 chip, loudly first benchmark tests if the RAM is not smaller than 12 gigabytes (GB), the internal memory is at least 128 GB according to the data sheet. With 4500 and 5000 milliamp hours, the batteries also have the corresponding capacities.
Hundredfold Digi-Zoom
But the camera equipment of the Galaxy S20 Ultra is particularly impressive. Its main camera is said to have a resolution of 108 megapixels (MP), plus a 12 MP wide-angle camera and a 48 MP telephoto camera with 10x optical zoom. Digitally, the camera should even be able to magnify objects by a hundred times. There is also a ToF sensor for depth information. The front camera also seems pretty ultra, the data sheet states 40 MP and 4K videos at 60 fps.
The other two variants are not quite as well stocked. Their main cameras only have a resolution of 12 MP and the 64 MP telephoto cameras only achieve three times the optical and 30 times the digital magnification. Their front cameras are also rather normal at 10 MP.
Huawei follows up
