Should this scenario actually occur and the Jets secure the No.1 draft pick, New York will inevitably have to deal with quarterback Trevor Lawrence, who is traded as a talent of the century.
Sam Darnold’s rookie contract ($ 9.8 million) is still running for a year. By May, the New York Jets have to make a decision on whether to pull an option for year five (2022). Should the option be drawn, Darnold would be entitled to an estimated $ 25 million guaranteed.
