SCHEFFAU AM TENNENGEBIRGE. Jonas Irnberger from Scheffau has been 18 years old for a little over a week. And for a few days now, the Tennengau prizewinner has been awarded the state speech competition in the vocational schools category. In the speech competition he was able to convince with the topic of education. Socially, the title “the lost youth” annoys him.
DISTRICT SHEETS: Why education?
JONAS IRNBERGER: My opinion is that there is a lot that doesn’t fit in the education system in Austria. I myself have dropped out of secondary school and after leaving school I was very concerned with education. The system currently consists of decision-makers and (so-called) experts on the one hand. Second, there are the real experts, the teachers and students.
I think we boys should be heard more and have a say in the curriculum. Teaching should be more project-oriented. The vocational school is much more realistic. Young people also have to learn to fail at one point or another. There is no such thing as ‘one way’. Only those who make mistakes will not repeat them again later. You don’t learn that in school.
