Sale of crematoriums necessary due to acquisition of Yarden

Yarden has to sell its crematoria in Beuningen, Heerlen, Groningen, Schagen, Utrecht and Venlo to another party. And DELA has to get rid of the crematorium in Spijkenisse. Only then can DELA take over competitor Yarden, the ACM has decided.

Two Yarden funeral homes in Veldhoven and Venray also have to be sold. ACM must approve the buyers for the various locations.

DELA has wanted to take over Yarden for some time. In 2020 the plans were still canceled because there was uncertainty about Yarden’s financial obligation to hundreds of thousands of policyholders, but the plan came later out of the fridge again.

The acquisition provides security for Yarden’s policyholders. DELA guarantees the 390,000 holders of the in-kind policies that they will not have to pay extra for the next ten years if they use the organization’s own funeral company.

Carryes Elkanders Lasten, as DELA’s full name is, has approximately 2000 employees and more than 4 million insured persons. The company carries out about 45,000 funerals every year. Yarden employs 900 people and 200 volunteers.
