LIVERPOOL – Mohamed Salah has vehemently defended his contributions to Liverpool and directly addressed recent criticism from sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher, expressing frustration over a perceived shift in narrative surrounding his performance. The Egyptian forward, who signed a lucrative two-year contract in April, has struggled to replicate his previous goal-scoring form this season, netting only five goals in all competitions.
Carragher recently suggested Salah’s “legs were gone,” a comment that reportedly enraged the player. In a revealing interview, Salah questioned why he is now being positioned as the problem within the team, despite a history of meaningful achievements for the club.his comments also cast doubt on his long-term future at Anfield, hinting at a potential departure after the African Cup of Nations.
“How I see it now is like you throw Mo under the bus because he is the problem in the team now. But I don’t think I am the problem. I have done so much for this club,” Salah stated. He emphasized his belief that he has earned his position and deserves respect, adding, “I don’t have to go every day fighting for my position as I earned it. I am not bigger than anyone but I earned my position. It’s football. It is indeed what it is.”
Last season, Salah equaled a Premier League record by directly contributing to 47 goals (29 scored, 18 assisted). Though, he lost his starting place in the team in November.
