On Wednesday September 2, Christian Monteil, president of the departmental council, and Chrystelle Beurrier, deputy vice-president for education, Youth and Sport, came to give a school agenda to the 6th year classes of the college of Gavot. After wishing a good start to the new school year, Chrystelle Beurrier presented the students with their new agenda. On the theme of sport, decorated with playful stickers in attractive colors, it indicates the sports educational path that is offered to them over the next four years. In fact, for a few years now, the Department has put in place measures aimed at encouraging the practice of sport by financing some of these activities: Knowing how to swim (initiation to swimming for all 6th grade), Knowing how to ski (initiation to practice Nordic or alpine skiing for the 5th grade), College students in a refuge or Knowing how to help (training of 4th grade students in first aid).
Work in anticipation
During the visit of the establishment, the elected officials had the opportunity to visit the new specialized class of the college. A ULIS class (Localized Unit for Inclusive Education) welcoming ten children with disabilities. The students, who sometimes have cognitive or learning disabilities, are all integrated into classes with other students in the normal cycle. They are accommodated during times arranged in the ULIS class to remedy their personal difficulties with a specialized educator.
« The specialist educator, in direct contact with the teachers of the classical stream, will be warned of the difficulty of learning or understanding certain lessons and will take the time necessary to acquire them, explains Stéphanie Desboeufs, manager of the college. The fact that these students with disabilities are integrated into reference classes also helps to consolidate their personal autonomy and improve their communication skills.. »
In addition to this novelty for the start of the school year, projects are on track for the rehabilitation of the plateau college such as its energy renovation currently under study, its functional restructuring with the aim of increasing its reception capacity and also the construction of new staff housing planned for a later date.
