Saif al-Islam Speaks Out: Hannibal Gaddafi’s Illegal Detention and the Lebanese Connection to Imam Musa al-Sadr’s Disappearance

Gaddafi’s son expressed his “astonishment at his accusation of concealing and concealing information related to the fate of Imam Musa al-Sadr, the Lebanese cleric, while he was only one year old at the time of al-Sadr’s disappearance.”

The statement stressed that any development in this file is being followed up by appropriate judicial procedures. Mikati also expressed Lebanon’s desire to promote better relations with the Libyan people.

The statement indicated that “the news circulating on social media and the WhatsApp application, according to which the head of the Libyan unity government, Abdel Hamid al-Dabaiba, communicated with the head of government regarding the issue of Hannibal Gaddafi, is incorrect.”

It is noteworthy that Hannibal Gaddafi, the son of the former Libyan president, has been imprisoned in Lebanon for nine years on charges of concealing information related to the absence of Imam Musa al-Sadr.

Qaddaf al-Dam explained, “Hannibal was kidnapped in Syria in 2016, and was taken to Lebanon, where he was released by the Information Department of the Internal Security Forces after he was kidnapped. After that, he was accused of involvement in the disappearance of Imam Musa al-Sadr, according to the Lebanese authorities.”

His lawyers say, “He was three years old, and did not know anything about the case, while the Lebanese judiciary says that Hannibal, who married a Lebanese woman earlier, has information and presents it upon his release. Hannibal Gaddafi entered a hunger strike a few days ago.” .
