Sadistic Orca Whale Serial Killing Of Great White Shark, Targeting Hearts and Hearts

CAPE TOWN – Two Pope’s cheek Port and Starboard, has slaughtered at least 8 White shark since 2015 in waters off South Africa. A pair of male orcas (Orcinus orca) had slaughtered and tore apart the body of the notorious white shark.

The Orca Whale not only kills the great white shark, but also eats the liver and heart. This terrifying phenomenon is not uncommon for orca whales, which are known to prey on everything from small fish to stocky sharks, sea lions and even blue whales.

The presence of two orca whales near the coast of Gansbaai, South Africa, sightings of great white sharks has decreased dramatically in the last 5 years. In fact, the Gansbaai coastal area is known as a habitat dominated by great white sharks.

“The more orcas visit these sites, the longer the great white shark stays away. What we are seeing is a large-scale avoidance strategy,” said Alison Towner, a biologist who studies white sharks at the Dyer Island Conservation Trust in South Africa.

Gansbaai Beach is located about 120 km east of Cape Town. According to researchers, the year-round presence of great white sharks makes Gansbaai beach a popular tourist destination for shark watchers.

Great white sharks have a body size, 4.9 meters long and have up to 300 teeth that are serrated like knives, this is one of the terrible predators in the water. But starting in 2015, the great white shark on Gansbaai beach found its match when a pair of adult male orcas arrived.

The presence of orca whales is easily recognized by the scars from fights with great white sharks. The whale’s dorsal fin is bent to the right, while the other is bent to the left. These features inspired local whale watchers to nickname the Orcas Port and Starboard. Shortly after whale watchers spotted the two on Gansbaai beach, a great white shark washed ashore dead on the beach.
