NORWICH, CT – The Knights of Columbus Council #13 will host a Sacred heart Holy Hour at Sacred Heart Church in Norwich on October 28th at 6pm, inviting all members of the Diocese of Norwich to participate in an evening dedicated to prayer and devotion.
The event is part of the Knights of Columbus Pilgrim Icon Program, which is currently circulating over 300 blessed icons of the Sacred Heart of jesus to parishes nationwide. These icons are reproductions of the 1767 painting by Pompeo Batoni, housed in the Church of the Gesù in Rome, and have received a blessing from pope Francis.
This Holy Hour coincides with a jubilee year commemorating the 350th anniversary of the apparitions of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (December 27, 2023 – June 27, 2025) and draws inspiration from Pope Francis’ encyclical, loved Us (He Loved Us).
Attendees can expect readings from Sacred Scripture, reflections from Pope Francis, recitation of the Divine Mercy Chaplet, prayers to the Sacred Heart, and a period of silent adoration before the Blessed Sacrament.
Supreme Knight patrick Kelly emphasized the importance of family participation, stating, “As knights bring these icons across the world to their parishes, we hope they will invite their families-and all families-to consecrate their homes and themselves to the Sacred Heart. In the heart of Christ, we see the heart of the Father.”
All are welcome to attend and experience the mercy, love, and grace offered through devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. For further information, contact Chris at 580-309-4171.
