Sabrina Carpenter Sings Uncensored Profanity on ‘Saturday Night Live’
Sabrina Carpenter delivered a performance containing explicit language on the October 18 episode of “Saturday Night Live,” singing the lyrics “He sure fucked me up” uncensored during her rendition of “Nobody’s Song” from her album “Man’s Best Friend” on two occasions.
The profanity was not muted or bleeped during either the East Coast network broadcast or the Peacock simulcast, suggesting a miscommunication with NBC censors. Viewers on the West Coast reported a brief audio silence during the instances of the expletive, indicating a slight delay in their feed.
Carpenter served as both host adn musical guest for the episode, performing “Nobody’s Song” – staged with a martial arts theme – towards the end of the show, following an earlier performance of “Manchild.”
This incident follows Carpenter’s use of profanity while accepting the Best Album Award at the 2025 VMAs, were she stated, “This world…can be so full of criticism and discrimination and negativity. So to get to be a part of something…that is something that can bring you light, make you smile, make you dance and make you feel like the world is your fucking oyster, I am so grateful.”
Uncensored profanity on “saturday Night Live” has occurred previously, with Kristen Stewart, Sam Rockwell, Ariana Grande, Norm Macdonald, and Jenny Slate all having used explicit language during monologues or sketches. The rock band The Replacements also dropped an F-bomb during a 1986 performance. NBC and creator Lorne Michaels have historically been cautious about potential FCC fines resulting from such incidents.
The show has also seen other controversial moments, including NBC removing upside-down American flags from Rage Against the Machine’s amps in 1996 and Ashlee Simpson’s vocal performance mishap in 2004.
Separately, on Friday, former President Donald J. Trump used the same expletive during a live news conference, stating that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro “doesn’t want to fuck around with the United States.” The White House afterward shared video of the statement on its official X account.
