Saban Saulic’ Grab in Belgrad
The Serbian folk singer was a passenger on the way back from a concert at the “Club Farinda” in Bielefeld early in the morning. At a construction site on the A2, where the speed limit was 80, a Mazda suddenly crashed into the singer’s seat from behind at high speed – according to reports at least 156 km/h.
Warehouse logistician Levent A. (37) was behind the wheel of the stolen car. Before the accident, he had been drinking (0.8 per mille), taking drugs and stealing a friend’s Mazda 6. A. did not have a driver’s license.

Saban Saulic suffered a ruptured aorta and bled to death at the scene of the accident. His keyboardist Mirsad Keric († 43) had to be cut out of the wreck. He succumbed to his injuries in hospital a day later. Another passenger (56) was seriously injured.

The driver involved in the accident is charged with negligent homicide, among other things. The process had to be postponed several times due to Corona. Several joint plaintiffs traveled to the trial from Belgrade and the Rhine-Main area. And now there was a lot of excitement even before the trial began.
Because: Levent A. had to be brought to court by police protection. The accused spent the night before the trial with his mother in Gütersloh. According to BILD information, when he walked to the courthouse, angry Serbian Saulic disciples ambushed him. A. went into hiding, called his lawyer Jerrit Schöll, who informed the police.

The rumor of an assassination attempt on the Serb Heino persists among the supporters. The death driver has received death threats before.
Levent A., who now lives in Minden, confesses and takes responsibility. But he has no memory of the accident and the hours before, he said in the process. Since that fateful day, he has stopped taking drugs and drinking alcohol.
A verdict could be announced on Thursday.
