Sabah Badminton Team Wins Medals at MSSM Championship

Sabah Badminton Team Achieves Top-Four Finish at National ⁢Championship

IPOH, Perak ⁢- The Sabah contingent delivered ⁢a strong performance at the⁢ Malaysian School Sports Council (MSSM) Badminton Championship, held in Ipoh from September 13th to ‍17th, securing a fourth-place overall​ finish with a haul of one gold, four silver, and two ​bronze medals.

The team’s standout achievement came ‌in the girls’ under-18 singles,where Saidatul⁣ Saadiah Binti Muhammad,a ⁢17-year-old student​ from Sepanggar currently training at Bukit jalil‍ Sports School,claimed gold.She defeated fellow Sabahan Jola Lim Zi Yu in the final with scores of 21-19, 21-17. Saidatul’s progress as joining Bukit Jalil has​ marked her as a ‌promising ⁢talent for Malaysian badminton.

Silver medals were earned by muhammad Nur ‍Azhar Bin Zunaide in the boys’⁢ under-18 singles, and by the pairing​ of Muhammad Nur Azhar Bin Zunaide and Hymns Isaiah Shim in the boys’ under-18 doubles. Lin Yao Rong and Lim Ke Xuan also secured a silver in the mixed doubles ⁣event.

Adding to Sabah’s medal count, Chua Jing ‍Xuan took bronze in the girls’ under-15 singles. Hymns Isaiah Shim contributed to a second ​bronze medal,partnering with Saidatul Saadiah Binti Muhammad in the mixed doubles.

“we hope ⁣this‌ achievement will inspire the MSS Sabah players⁣ to train⁣ harder, ultimately ⁢leading to an⁢ overall⁤ championship​ victory in⁤ the future,” stated⁣ MSS sabah badminton team manager, Joe Gary JR Martin.

The team’s​ success ⁢was formally recognized with an incentive ⁤presentation by⁤ Tuan Datu asrah bin Datok Ambas, Chief Assistant Director ‍of⁢ Talent⁣ Development,‌ Student Development Sector, Sabah State‍ Education Department, at the Ipoh Badminton Arena. Datu Asrah lauded the efforts of the entire MSS​ Sabah badminton contingent – players, coaches, and team manager ‌- ​for elevating the state’s profile in the⁢ national badminton arena.
