S10 and Michelle David perform in Carré: ‘It’s my home’ | NOW

Rapper S10 and jazz singer Michelle David will be playing at the Royal Theater Carré on 1 July. Together with other established names such as Spinvis, they are part of a collaboration between various Amsterdam theaters. David: “Carré is my home.”

The performances by S10, among others, are part of the SAMEN project, a collaboration between three Amsterdam theaters. Other artists who will give a show in Carré are Spinvis and Steef de Jonge.

Twenty-year-old Stien den Hollander, as S10 is really called, is happy that she can perform again for a somewhat larger audience. In June she gave a performance for thirty people in Tivoli in Utrecht. “That was quite crazy. So few people at a show was a bit uncomfortable,” said S10.

Despite the lockdown, the musical career of S10 certainly did not stand still. “I spent a lot of time in the studio working on new music. So I’m working on a new album,” said the rapper.

‘Carré always feels like coming home’

Jazz singer David says she is very much looking forward to the performances. “Carré is my home. I have been able to perform there before and it always feels like coming home.” Despite the announced relaxation of the corona measures, David is still cautious. “Some family members have unfortunately been affected by COVID-19. It does cause some anxiety. I am certainly on my guard,” said David.

The artist finds the performance exciting under recent circumstances. “I was in Hoorn a while ago, and no one was allowed to dance. I was just like: get up.

The corona measures that are relaxed as of 1 July ensure that there is no longer an upper limit for admitting the audience to concert halls. The condition is that everyone must be able to keep 1.5 meters away. The staff must also ask each visitor about his or her health before entering.

The performances that are part of SAMEN will be played for a maximum of one hundred visitors despite the further relaxations. The current program is designed to receive one hundred visitors with multiple performances in one day.
