S-presso surpasses Ignis, how are Suzuki’s cheap cars sold?

Suzuki S-presso is the cheapest car Suzuki is currently selling. Since launching at the 2022 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), what has it been like?

Sales of the Suzuki S-Vicino could be said to be smooth at the start of the launch. Because the wholesaler figure (factory distribution to dealers) is above Suzuki’s target of 2,300 units by the end of the year or an average of 460 months.

This is a relatively small number when compared to low-cost ecological car (LCGC) sales in Indonesia. But the S-presso is not considered against the LCGC cars, because the urban SUV is still imported intact, aka CBU from India.

Even so, S-presso’s wholesale sales exceeded the target set by PT Suzuki Indomobil Indonesia. Last July, for example, 578 units of the S-presso were distributed. Then in August, 754 units of S-presso were sent to their dealers. In total, there are 1,332 S-presso units.

Compared to other Suzuki city cars, the Suzuki Ignis. The S-presso is believed to have surpassed Ignis sales throughout 2022.

S-presso reached thousands of units in its first two months. The figure is inversely proportional to the Suzuki Ignis, a car which is also India’s CBU, which distributed 457 units from January to August 2022.

When you look at the price, the S-presso is stuck with a low-cost green car (LCGC). But Suzuki denied that the S-presso would replace the Karimun Wagon R, which had been stopped selling in Indonesia. S-presso is currently selling for Rp. 155 million for the M / T type, while the S-presso AGS is selling for Rp. 164 million.

S-presso is Suzuki’s answer for people living in urban areas for those who need a compact yet fuel-efficient car.

Behind the hood, the S-presso is equipped with a 1-liter K-series three-cylinder K10B DOHC petrol engine. The new S-presso is capable of producing a peak power of 50 kW at 5,500 rpm and 90 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. The engine is mated to an AGS automatic transmission and a 5-speed manual.

The dimensions of the Suzuki S-presso have a length of 3,565 mm, a width of 1,520 mm, a height of 1,565 mm and a wheelbase of 2,380 mm. It is more compact than the Suzuki Ignis, measuring 3,700mm in length, 1,690mm in width and 1,595mm in height.
