Rzeczpospolita: Ziobrists surprised by changes in the covid act

There is consternation in the United Right. The Ministry of Justice was to learn from the media about the changes planned by PiS in the covid act, which will allow officials to go unpunished, reports Rzeczpospolita on Friday (August 14).

According to the PiS project, breaking the law will not be a crime if it is in the public interest and is to counter COVID-19.

“He does not commit a crime who, in order to counteract COVID-19, violates official duties or applicable regulations, if he acts in the public interest, and without this violation, the action taken would not be possible or would be difficult” – reads the provision criticized by lawyers and the opposition, which would also have apply to acts committed before the entry into force of the amendments to the Act.

According to “Rzeczpospolita” the proposed solution was also supposed to cause consternation in the ranks of the United Right itself.

The Ministry of Justice found out about the project from the media, informs the daily. Solidarna Polska was to commission an opinion which showed that the changes were going too far.

According to the newspaper, Zbigniew Ziobro’s party will not support the changes in the proposed shape.
