Ryzen 4000’s integrated graphics performance has really grown significantly

Very soon laptops on AMD Ryzen processors of the 4000th series of the Renoir family should go on sale. Over the past month, there have been many leaks about upcoming updates, and their flow has not yet been reduced. This time, the network showed the results of testing the Ryzen 7 4800HS and Ryzen 7 4800U processors in the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark.

Of greatest interest in this case are the test results of the integrated GPUs, because they allow you to compare the new integrated second-generation Vega GPUs with their predecessors of the first generation. Recall, introducing the Renoir chips, AMD said that the new version of the integrated graphics Vega will be up to 59% faster than the previous generation.

The Ryzen 7 4800HS processor is equipped with integrated second-generation Vega graphics with seven processing units, while the Ryzen 7 4800U has eight such units. The clock frequencies of the “plug-ins” reach 1600 and 1750 MHz, respectively. Nevertheless, the integrated graphics Vega 7 in the Ryzen 7 4800HS chip is estimated at 1089 points, while the Vega 8 in the Ryzen 7 4800U processor earned only 1045 points. Such results can be explained by the fact that these are preliminary tests, and the processors belong to several different segments, which could also play a role.

In any case, these results are higher than the results of the integrated graphics processors of the Ryzen 3000 series chips (Picasso). Graphics processor Ryzen 7 3780U scores 1028 points in the same test, and this is in the presence of 11 computing units. In turn, the graphics processor Ryzen 7 3700U with ten blocks and even gaining only 917 points. That is, having much more computing power, the old chips lose, even according to preliminary tests.

In the end, I would like to add that the Ryzen 7 4800U as a whole was first seen in 3DMark Time Spy, and showed very high performance there also in terms of CPU. Its eight cores and sixteen threads showed a score of 6061 points, which is almost twice as much as the Ryzen 7 3780U, and also more than 35% higher than the result of a certain Intel Tiger Lake-U chip, which “leaked” to the network earlier.
