Ryanair criticized for statements on climate protection

According to a British authority, Europe’s largest low-cost airline Ryanair is no longer allowed to advertise in its current form with low carbon emissions. Otherwise, consumers would be misled in the media, yesterday decided the advertising regulator ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) in London.

The Irish airline advertised on the radio that it was a low-carbon airline. Newspaper ads said Ryanair had the lowest carbon emissions of any major airline.

According to the ASA, consumers could interpret such statements that Ryanair contributes less to CO2 emissions than other airlines – which has not been proven. The authority complained that the benchmarks used in advertising were also not clear. Therefore, the airline should not repeat this in this form.

The laudamotion mother Ryanair reacted “disappointed and surprised”. It is the greenest airline in Europe. The airline said that other European countries had no problems with advertising.
