Ryan and Razan died quickly. The bacteria entered and reached the blood and lungs. Here’s what the latest investigations revealed

Ali Hashisho wrote about Al-Akhbar:

The coroner, Afif Khafaja, confirms that the rapid death of the two children, Rayan and Razan Saleh, and the placing of the mother on a respirator in the intensive care room due to severe poisoning, “is a rare case, as it has affected all the family members.”

On Thursday, the two girls and their mother were rushed to the government hospital in Sidon after being poisoned. Little Rayan (3 years old) arrived at the hospital exhausted and all attempts by the emergency room nurses to rescue her failed, while her mother was admitted to intensive care and her older sister, Razan, was transferred to the hospital of Hammoud, because his condition was also critical. Razan endured a few hours on a respirator after being injected with the serum, but her heart stopped Thursday night and she died, while her mother struggles to survive while she undergoes intensive care. Sources close to the family said the three patients had eaten a plate of “omelet”, fearing that the vegetables used might contain a toxic substance or that some type of poisonous mushroom might be used.

Dr. Afif Khafaja, who examined the two bodies, said in contact with Al-Akhbar that “the cause of the poisoning is still unknown, and the sensory examination did not show any external effects on the two bodies,” explaining that “the cause of the rapid death of the two children is the entry of bacteria, and their access to blood.” And the lungs, so that all the traditional medical procedures, like the respirator and serums and injections, haven’t worked to treat them.

And he spoke of several causes of poisoning, “including food poisoning resulting from putrefaction or spoilage of food components such as bread, vegetables or eggs, and their failure to meet food safety conditions, including what is external such as poison for mice transmitted from the mouse to human food through its borrowing, and then a person comes along.” Eating poisoned food.

The coroner had advised the government hospital in Sidon to expand the examination of the samples of the boy Rayan, but Al-Akhbar learned that the financial and administrative conditions of the hospital prevented this and that the laboratory contracted with the hospital does not have of these tests. Al-Akhbar has learned that the samples have been sent to laboratories in the capital, Beirut, and that it will take about five days for the results to be released. At this time, the coroner sent blood samples from the two girls to the central laboratory of the Ministry of Health to determine the cause and type of poisoning.
