“Of course I would have liked to play too. But it’s also good that the guys who have played less or not at all recently feel trust and can play. We are a team and every player is important,” explains Plechaty in the RevierSport-Conversation.
22 games, four goals and five assists: That’s the record of the Essen defender this season. The last unfinished game is no longer an issue in the RWE team. “It’s clear that what happened wasn’t nice. Nobody really needs that! We talked briefly about it and Münster is now over. We also have no influence on how the game is rated. We have it more of a now-first-right mood. We’re already looking forward to Saturday,” emphasizes the 24-year-old.
For Plechaty the duel is on Saturday (2 p.m., RevierSport-Liveticker) in the Veltins Arena against the U23 of FC Schalke 04 a special encounter. After all, before signing in Essen in summer 2020, the native of Lüner played for five years in the youth team of S04. “Two or three boys are still in the U23 squad and I’m still in contact with coach Torsten Fröhling, who was also my coach. That’s always my goal,” reveals the ambitious former youth players of Borussia Dortmund (2207 to 2013), VfL Bochum (2014 – 2015) and Schalke (2015 – 2020).
The son of Mario Plechaty, coach of the district league club FC Nordkirchen, is under contract with RWE until the summer of 2024. He has big plans for the club, which he has gotten to know better and better since signing on August 10, 2020. “We finally want to get into this 3rd division. It’s everyone’s dream: the team, those in charge, the fans, the city. I’m becoming more and more aware of how big this club is. It’s unbelievable. On the way to the big goal of the 3rd division, a threesome on Saturday at Schalke would also help. Plechaty knows that too: “We want to win every game. But a derby is something special. I’ve always liked playing derbies and with RWE, with these fans behind me, even more so. I’m just looking forward to this game. I I think that even with just under 1,500 people in Essen, it will sound good in terms of atmosphere.”
