RVS / LU volleyball players lose in CEV Challenge Cup – Other sports – Apollo.lv – Sports

RVS / LU conceded to the Czech team “Ostrava” with 0-3 (17:25, 17:25, 16:25).

In the first set, the Ostrava volleyball players in the role of housewives took the lead with 3: 1, but RVS / LU achieved 5-3 in their favor. In general, a similar game continued until 14:13 in favor of the Czech club, when the Czechs managed to score four points in a row.

In the second set, the Rigans were never in the lead, although the volleyball players of the Ostrava club gained a greater advantage only at the end of the set, winning this set to ensure entry into the next round.

In the third set, the first point was won by RVS / LU, but in the future, the Ostrava volleyball players took the convincing lead with 5: 1, 8: 2, 11: 3, winning also in the third set.

In the first game in Riga with 3-1 (25:14, 25:22, 28:30, 25:20) the Czech volleyball players were superior.

Taking into account the situation in the world and comparing it in Latvia and the Czech Republic, it was decided by mutual agreement to play both games in Latvia, observing a number of precautionary measures.

Due to the restrictions of Covid-19 in Latvia, it was not possible for eight players of the Riga Club to participate in the games, because they have not yet reached the age of 18. The biggest loss is the absence of the team’s main diagonal player Vladas Pridatko. In BSVL, he was perfectly replaced by Katrīna Paula Krustkalne in October, becoming a player of the league of the month.

LVF previously reported that preparing for the Challenge Cup was not easy for the Czech team. Due to the limitations of Covid-19, the trainings could only take place in the fresh air, but then the opportunity was found to go to the neighboring country of Poland, where the trainings were held indoors.

The Ostrava team played the last game five days ago in the Czech Championship, winning. The team has played six games this season, dividing the wins and losses in half. This performance puts the Ostrava club in third place with 11 points.

The Riga team starts in the CEV Challenge Cup for the second year in a row. Last year, the team met with the Bekēščaba “Roplabda” team from Hungary. There was a loss in both games – in the home game with 1: 3, away with 0: 3.

Meanwhile, the “Ostrava” team also played in the 1/16 final last year, in which Graz UVC from Austria won 3: 2 in the first game, but lost 1: 3 in the answer match and withdrew from the further fight.

In the eighth final, the Czechs will meet the hosts of the tournament “MCM-Diamant” in the upcoming “bubble” in the Hungarian city of Kaposvár in early December. After reaching the eighth final, the quarterfinals will have to meet with Istanbul THY (Turkey) or Skopje “Vardar” (Northern Macedonia).

27 women’s volleyball clubs have entered the challenge cup this year.

Both Latvian men’s teams – Jēkabpils “Lūši”, who had to meet with Milan “Allianz Powervolley” and “RTU Border Guard” / “Jūrmala”, whose opponent was the Czech Republic, refused to participate in the CEV Challenge Cup 1/16 final due to the difficulties caused by Covid-19. club “Lvi” in Prague.
