– It is obvious that Washington is intentionally trying to inflict a strategic defeat on us, says Russia’s ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, in statements that the Russian embassy in Washington has published in the messaging service Telegram.
– If the US decides to deliver tanks, it will be obvious that it will not work to justify such a step with arguments about “defensive weapons”. This will be yet another obvious provocation against Russia, says the ambassador.
On Tuesday evening, several media reported that Germany, the USA and other countries will probably send modern tanks to the Ukrainian defense forces. On Wednesday morning, Germany confirmed that it is sending tanks to Ukraine.
– Lead to more suffering in Ukraine
According to American media, the United States is expected to announce as early as Wednesday that the country can send tanks of the M1 Abrams type to Ukraine.
If the West sends these tanks to Ukraine, it will lead to more suffering in the country and increased tension in Europe, warns Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
– Unfortunately, more weapons from NATO will lead to more suffering for the people in Ukraine. It will also contribute to further tensions on the continent. But this will not prevent Russia from achieving our goals, he says to CNN.
Kremlin: Western tanks will burn
Similar to previous statements, Peskov believes that Western tanks will not make much of a difference on the battlefield in Ukraine.
– From a purely technological point of view, this is a failed plan. The potential this will add to the Ukrainian army is overestimated, says President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
– These tanks, like all others, will burn. They are just very expensive, he says.
