Russian Tu-142 Reconnaissance Jet Fighter US F-22

Russian reconnaissance jets were repelled by warplanes United States of America. The US F-22 fighter aircraft intercepted four Russian Tu-142 reconnaissance aircraft that entered the Alaska air defense identification zone (ADIZ) on Saturday (6/27).

The US Air Defense Command (NORAD) said the Russian plane was 65 nautical miles south of the Alaskan Aleutian islands.

The Russian patrol plane was said to be wandering around ADIZ for almost eight hours. The aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace.


This is not the first time Russian jets have been driven by US warplanes. This year NORAD forces intercepted Russian military aircraft on 10 separate occasions.

“This year alone, NORAD forces have identified and intercepted Russian military aircraft including bombers, fighters and maritime patrol aircraft on ten separate occasions when they had flown to ADIZ,” NORAD commander General Terrence J. O’Shaughnessy was quoted as saying. CNN.

Earlier this month, US F-22 jets also intercepted Russian nuclear-capable bombers near Alaska on three separate occasions.

The latest incident was on Wednesday (24/6) then, US F-22 warplanes intercepted two Russian IL-38 maritime patrol aircraft that entered the Alaska Zone.

“The F-22 aircraft supported by KC-135 Stratotanker intercepted two Russian IL-38 maritime patrol aircraft entering the Alaska air defense zone around midnight on June 24,” the US Air Defense Command (NORAD) said in a statement on Thursday (25/6) .
