Russian state gas company Gazprom is already sowing doubts about the restart of the Nord Stream gas pipeline

A press release from Gazprom will no doubt add to those fears. “We currently do not have the documents needed to recover a gas turbine (from Nord Stream 1), which is currently being repaired in Canada,” writes the Russian energy company. “In these circumstances, it is not possible to draw objective conclusions about the evolution of the situation, in the context of safe operation of the gas pipeline.”

The slow repair of a Nord Stream gas turbine from the German company Siemens, which is currently still in Ottawa, was also the cause of the reduced gas supplies to Germany in mid-June, according to the Russians. The Kremlin last week said it would increase the capacity of the Nord Stream pipeline once the repaired turbine was returned to Russia.
