Russian Propaganda: The Truth Behind the Unreported Civilian Casualties in Ukraine

The past week passed without surprises on the ideological front of Russian propagandists. Predictably, throughout the week propagandists tirelessly discussed the drone attacks on Moscow and the attacks on the Belgorod region, especially the city of Shebekina. As usual, belligerent threats were made to wipe Kharkiv from the face of the earth, from which the attacks were carried out, and it was also announced that with these attacks NATO was preparing for the Third World War with Russia. All this was supplemented by announcements that Russia will be able to live peacefully only when Ukraine as a country no longer exists.

At the same time, the Russian attacks on Ukraine and the killed civilians, including a two-year-old girl, were only told that the attacks were carried out only on military infrastructure. As you know, on the evening of June 3, a Russian missile hit between two residential buildings in Podgorodnya district, which is a suburb of Dnipro.

As a result of the attack, a two-year-old girl died, whose body was pulled from the rubble on the morning of June 4. 22 people were injured, five of whom were children. Referring to the incident, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that an attack had been carried out on a factory where drones are assembled and that there were no civilian casualties.

In order to fully understand Russian propaganda in its entirety, what is not reported is as important as what is reported. On Sunday, May 4, rallies were held across the country in support of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who remains in custody.

Russian authorities arrested a significant number of people who publicly expressed their support for the opposition figure. At the same time, Russian state television news programs did not mention it at all, as if such protests had never happened. Similar to the unreported arrest of director Yevgenia Berkovich and the silence on the prison sentence of opposition leader Vladimir Kara-Murz.
